Preheat oven to 350° F. Prepare baking pan with non-stick baking spray.
Blend cake mix, eggs, oil, and water in a large mixing bowl at low speed until moistened. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed or about 450 strokes by hand.
Pour batter into a greased pan as directed on the cake mix box. We used a 13x9-inch cake pan. Cake is done with toothpick is inserted and comes out clean.
Bake for 23-28 minutes if using a 13x9 pan or as directed on the cake mix box. Allow to cool. Once cooled, cut the cake into 1" squares.
Pour 1/2 cake squares into trifle dish, layer 1 container of whipped cream or until cake pieces are covered, and top with 1/2 of strawberries and repeat.
