Step 1

In a large pot or dutch oven, add uncooked ground beef, 1 cup chopped onion, garlic, beef broth, tomato sauce, tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, chili powder, cumin, and cinnamon. Stir to combine.

Step 2

Bring to boil, reduce heat to simmer uncovered for 1 hour or until chili has reduced and thickened.

Step 3

Over medium heat, add water to a skillet enough to cover the surface with half an inch of water. Add hot dogs and cook 3 minutes.

Step 4

To steam hot dog buns: Place 2 skewers over top of skillet. Open hot dog buns and place over skewers to steam buns for 1 minute.

Step 5

Serve on steam hot dog bun, add cooked hot dogs, mustard, Cincinnati chili, reserved chopped onions, and mounds of cheese.
