Preheat oven to 400° F.
Place chopped asparagus in a greased 9x13 casserole dish. Season with salt & pepper, to taste. Add artichoke hearts. Toss to combine. Add heavy whipping cream or milk. Top with mozzarella and parmesan cheese, thyme, and red pepper flakes. Gently toss to combine. Bake for 15 minutes.
Combine butter, garlic, and bread crumbs. Add to casserole. Place under broiler until golden, about 2 minutes, or bake another 8 minutes.
