Pour butter milk or milk with white vinegar in dish.

Step 2

Slice onion thin and place in milk, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Step 3

Combine dry ingredients and set aside.

Step 4

Heat oil to 375°.

Step 5

Toss onions in flour mixture until fully coated.

Step 6

Place onions into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes.

Step 7

Transfer to paper towel-lined plate to drain.
