Chicken Bacon Ranch & Mashed Potato Braid

A beautiful braided bread filled with chicken, bacon, ranch, cheese, and mashed potatoes for the ultimate weeknight dinner. This is a filling one-dish meal baked in a perfectly flaky crescent dough always gets smiles around the dinner table.

Directions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375ºF.

Step 2

Roll out 1 crescent roll per baking sheet vertically and seal perforations. (Do not separate the rolls. See video.)

Step 3

Saute chopped Bacon in a skillet, cook until it's brown and crispy about 7 minutes. Remove from heat and drain on paper towel-lined plate.

Step 4

Cook chopped Chicken in the same skillet with bacon grease until it loses its pink color and is slightly browned on both sides, about 6-8 minutes. Remove from heat.

Step 5

Add 2 cups hot water to a bowl.

Step 6

Stir in 4 oz bag of mashed potato flakes, let rest 1 minute.

Step 7

Mix in chicken, bacon, cheese, ranch, red pepper, and green onion.

Step 8

Spread chicken mixture down the center of the flattened crescent rolls.

Step 9

Cut 10 strips on each side of the dough. To braid, lift strips of dough across the mixture to meet in the center. Continue alternating strips to form a braid. See video.

Step 10

Whisk egg. Spread egg wash over chicken braid.

Step 11

Sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Step 12

Bake for 10-13 minutes – until lightly browned.

Step 13

Garnish with chopped parsley.

Step 14

Serve with a green salad with Ranch salad dressing.

Cook's Notes

This recipe makes 3 braids, enough to feed 8-9 people. Cut recipe in 1/2 for dinner for 4.
